Welcome
A ‘sidesman’ is basically an usher or a host for the church family and visitors as we meet in the main hall. You are an assistant to the church warden on duty. You’re serving your church family and visitors by praying for the meeting, preparing the meeting area, giving a warm welcome, helping people know where to go during the service, checking on the environment of the room, meeting any needs that arise and finally tidying up and resetting the main hall. It’s a great act of service to get to know lots of people and easy to do! You can choose morning or evening services, or both.
Refreshments
It is always great over a cup of tea/coffee to chat with our Emmanuel Church family after a Sunday service.
Are you able to serve in a practical way by serving tea/coffee as part of a team on a Sunday. If so, we would love to hear from you.

Youth
Ignite is our Parish-wide Youth group for those aged 14-18. Held in a home setting, we go through various topical and book-oriented bible studies across the year, and have plenty of time for chat, food and questions. We do a social at the end of each term, usually involving more food! If you have a heart for discipling the next generation, please do get in touch.

Prayer
The opportunities to serve in the Prayer Ministry are varied. You might want to get involved by leading prayers during a Sunday service, praying as a family at All Age services or being part of the after service Prayer Team. You could volunteer to pray regularly for one of Emmanuel’s ministries, receiving requests from the organisers of that ministry. Perhaps you'd prefer to encourage or enable people to pray; this could be by keeping the daily prayer emails up to date or helping to organise the monthly prayer meeting or an occasional prayer weekend.
